Hey now
I love Linux. It's free, it's functional, and if I ever ever wanted to tinker around with the underlying code, it's not hidden, proprietary and closed off to such. Linux may not enjoy cash drowning revenues like some commercial entities, especially with a number of distros being about the software and not about the money, but they are worth it to their target audience, and some quite adept at performing against the big boys of OSes.

They suffer mostly from a lack of self promotion, and that there are so many that a huge number of people wouldn't couldn't and haven't given one or more of them a try. Today's software is 'good enough' that exploration isn't a pressing concern. Linux should be advertising it's compatibilities with today's popular software and devices and its low to no price footprint in their budgets. Of course, they'd have to generate enough revenue to place the ads and get into the heads of the consumer . . . F plus so far on that, at least in America.

As for Mandriva, . . sad sad sad. From Mandrake to now, seemingly still holding out a tin cup. sad
