MS Next Decade Operating System
If history is any indication, the accuracy of any roadmap
Microsoft announces drops greatly after about 2 weeks.
Microsoft's trumpeting of the Tablet PC and operating system
last year has now all but disappeared.

MS continues to announce great things just down the road
in an attempt to keep companies from purchasing products from
other vendors that can deliver those promised features today.
And it works. But more and more companies are waking up to
the fact that it isn't worth waiting on MS to catch up.

"Many Microsoft customers have been reluctant to update their
server installations and have remained on Windows NT 4.0.." Yes
but many of them have upgraded to Linux, and many more will
within the next year.

The world is changing and Microsoft will have to ship more than
promises if it expects to hang on to it's share of the server
market.

And as far as Microsoft mainframes? The main "engine" of
Hotmail still runs on BSD. If Microsoft can't run a major app on
Windows how do they expect to con someone else into trying?
