Microsoft Supporting FireFox
Hell continues freezing. Microsoft will be matching Flash advantage by supporting Safari and FireFox. The IE browser is being abandoned. What we are seeing is a new emphasis at Microsoft that is being driven by industry standards.

But I think we still need to hear from Apple. That Iphone has the hearts and minds of many. What video format will it support? I am guessing MPEG-4, which means there has to be some standards work involving next-gen DVD HD DVD.

As I mentioned previously, there should be no conversion required to go from a clip created on ones camera or phone camera to the web presentation format. Those camera displays are just about perfect for web page presentation.

This gives Adobe, with photo shop, a huge lead over Microsoft. I just do not see Microsoft even in the same market space. Adobe is already a partner with the camera makers. They can just bundle Flash editing tools in with photo shop and have the camera makers distribute both.

Nonetheless, if the story isn't a viable competitor to Flash there is the story of Microsoft writing to FireFox. Thats huge.
