This is going to be great.
However, if or when it's a success there will then be concerns of antitrust matters I suppose.

I think with the large number of partners ms has now it's going to come down to how well it performs out of the gate of if they are willing to wait. I think the .NET toolset is great and the presentation foundation is a huge step forward. Haven't seen the expression stuff yet but sounds like but there is a lot of programming support available for .net to be sure.

One thing about Adobe Flash player is something Microsoft takes a never ending hit for and that is it's phoning home to adobe....i'm not sure how often but I don't like this idea anymore than ms phoning home. I'm guessing others don't mind since it's not ms. wink

It's also somewhat ironic how people that complain about MS no matter what they do and especially if they think Microsoft is try to control formats. but the facts are technologies like Flash and Java and Quicktime have defaulted their way onto so many desktops that Flash is almost at monopoly levels. I guess this doesn't count as "lock in" to a format when you develop around these technologies. Java has proliferated all over the net over time and the runtime is installed on countless machines. Yet .NET is griped about as being a microsoft only technology.

Ah well, Microsoft will be a huge player in this area and Vista will be a great platform on which to use these new technologies.
