Your pessamism is pathetic
The one quality I like about Mark Shuttleworth, is his vision for the future UBUNTU. Fortunately, his conservatism makes for a rock solid implementation and a cautious move forward.

You were praising the other OS. What did you do for the many blue screens of death, the frequent need to reorganise the hard disk because of heavy fragmentation, the frequent reboots for installs, the problems of anti-virus and anti-spam software (all software I would believe you purchased, right?) that were needed for a product that was designed before the internet became a reality.

Linux was designed first and foremost for telecom, and then for multi-tasking in a secure arena. From the onset, security was number 1.

By the way,in order for Vista Sales to climb, they will stop shipping XP. Our local newspaper, which is clueless about technology reported that linux installations were way way up, while Vista sales are way below expectations.

Vista needs twice to three times the resources of UBUNTU or the linux I use. For what it is worth, I stayed with the one I started out with, because I learned it. I have knowledge about the mindset of the developers, the mapping of applications to directories, to extra security protection that Vista does not have, and to some key developers email addresses. That has been a benefit for the community when I could deal 1-1 with them.

So, take off your glasses, get some cleaner, wipe down the lenses until they are clear, and look again at where linux was last year, and where it is today, and where it will be next year.
