Possibly silly question, but...
So you're emulated Windows on a Mac. Lets say Windows doesn't support FIreWire, Mac obviously does. Why not simply access your movie files via the Mac, then save and move them directly into Windows for editing.

If all you are doing is copying the data from video camera to computer it strikes me that there must be systems that do this for free. Then move it for editing.
