Well, as a professor he's no doubt used to assigning homework instead of doing it.

I suppose it would be kinder to not tell him that there's a native Linux version of MatLab and that it uses the exact same input and output files as the MS version, so his students (Heaven forbid they should have to actually learn anything) can do as much of the work as they like on either system.
