WinFS Active Directory
Gates' longtime vision for a unified storage system would allow people to easily group documents by various categories and would improve search across multiple kinds of files. Best I can tell, it would duplicate what Amazon.com already has which I have determined is Oracle based. In any case the files system is more database than ever before.

Does it make sense at all to be messing around with Active Directory? In other words, if your shop is using say Novell Directory Services, is there any advantage at all in investigating Active Directory? Or is it as I suspect - Microsoft is abandoning what we know today as Active Directory - for something like WinFS directory. Is WinFS directory one of the fruits of the Novell - Microsoft marriage?
