For Microsoft, there are billions riding on this. They stand to lose
billions if the ODF standard takes off in governments and their standard is in the end not approved as an OSI standard.

Microsoft will fight tooth and nail. They need to create confusion and compatibility problems in order to maintain the monopoly. They can NOT afford to compete on the merits.

No matter which side you are on, this is exciting, this will be bloody, Microsoft will spend billions if necessary on fines, law suites, etc.
