They aren't giving everything away
They are giving parts of the thing away, they still have their major parts available to buy. GroupWise, and the Network OS itself is still for sale and proprietary. I think with linux support and if these products work hand and hand together, they might come out making a good amount of cash. I've always been partial to Novell, it's what i learned on, 3.12. I worked on it until it hit 5, and then changed companies and got away from it for quite some time. It really wasn't too cost effective for smaller firms, so they all moved to NT 4 rather than upgrading. I still find it a very good Network OS when i do see it at clients, and it really hasn't changed all that much from the last time i saw it. I've also never seen a daily use NT based machine up for 3 years. Back in the days of 3.1x, that was common. Then again, everyone has their own opinion about what they like best and trust, so if ya want to flame go on with it, i'm basing alot of this on my own opinion and on-site knowledge.
Have a good one guys
