RAID drivers still need disks sad
I just installed a disk drive not too long ago. A RAID driver needed it sad.

Why in the world are these RAID people not using CD-ROMs?!
Really, Moore's Law has made servers so powerful, we do not need to have the desktop machines doing much.
I disagree. Locality is a very important part of computing, and local resources are MUCH faster than non-local resources.

Yeah, sure, you may have gigabit ethernet, but my mobo is hauling around tens of gigabits without a second thought. My SATA harddrives alone are hauling around 3 Gb/s! And those are the slowest components on my system. If I'm running heavily CPU and I/O bound applications, that network connection is going to slow me down big time.

Moore's law says that desktops are getting faster too, you know.

If you're just surfing the Internet or using a word processor, that's fine. But forget serious use.
