Microsoft running scared?
Of course that have to poo-poo the use of thin client as a niche market. Schools and corporations that don't want to go through the upgrade cycle can opt-out by using old PC's as thin cleints using Linux, then purchase only one or two new servers.

Microsoft just got the boot in some California schools and they obviously don't want this as a trend:
