Look I am no big fan of MS, but it's biggest problem is trying to maintain all this backwards compatibility.

It's about damn time they started saying "you know what it's a new operating system it's better and more secure and more stable than before but to get there we had to give up the stuff from previous versions that made it unstable and unsecure".

The vendors if they are worth using at all will release patches to make the software work with XP SP2. If they are good vendors there are testing the release candidate stuff already to determine how to make sure their software still works.

You can't ***** about security and then ***** that getting better security gets in the way of some apps.

And for the record No I don't work for microsoft, and though I am not a LINUX user I do stray away from MS all that I can. I browse with firefox, I get email with thunderbird I play my audio and video content with winamp, etc, etc, etc.
