Customers will be waiting a long time.
If everything was truely interoperable and replaceable, this would be the end of Microsoft. Customers could insert open standards compliant servers in the place of Microsoft servers. You would not have all of the compatibility problems if you did not use Windows on the client. In short, it would be the end of Microsoft which depends on lock-in to generate sales.

IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!
