Let me count the ways
"why would most company's want to take a chance and change to Linux desktops?"

Windows Desktop License - $100
Windows Office - $200
Windows Enterprise Licensing and Support - $100
Visio, Project, Etc. ect. - $$$$$$$

Linux Desktop - $0
Open Office - $0
Enterprise Licensing and Support - $25
Visio, Project, etc. etc. equivilents - $0

All numbers are approximated per user. Lots of ROI in these numbers. Very minor issues holding up progress. As MS prices go up, and sercurity issues increase, impediments seem less important.
