Vily Clay's response if just offensive
We are not comparing supporters of commercial solutions as terrorism.

The GPL is all about preserving a fair competition, and it's normal that it competes so hard with proprietary solutions. But what the GPL wants is that competition remains open, and users are keeping the choice.

Patents are a threat because they are made to forbid any competition. That's why GPL supporters are battling to refuse patents on software because all softwares are made only of concepts, and concepts should not be patentable as their field of application is much too large as they wil cover new products that the concept "inventors" have NOT made themselves.

Accepting patents on software is exactly like accepting patents on political points of view, they are threatening the freedom of speech, and even the freedom of conscience. Tomorrow, patents on software will forbid voting for or against ideas just because patents are discriminatory by nature. Patents are all about forbiding any competition.

But lets not invoke terrorism in this discussion.
