And if that code happens to be somebody elses?
Seems to me that you want it both ways. You want the right to do with code whatever you want, yet when it comes for others to exert their rights, through GPL or otherwise, you're saying that their wishes don't count. One or the other: if you do not want to release your code, don't use GPL code, simple as that.
