While I'd have to see the language that appears in the draft on the "patent agreement" between Novell and Microsft the rest of it looks like the FSF has narrowed the definition of a lot of other sections which look like an attempt to placate Torvalds and others who have objected to it.

As far as being forced to use GPL 3, that's not likely to happen. It appears the most of the major players will stay with v2 instead until they get what they want from GPL 3.1.

RMS may been the leading light of the Free Software Foundation but he's not the only member nor does he bankroll the place. Let's wait and see.
