I guess I'm the opposite....
I have had no need for Windows for more than 5 years. Except for those I build or fix for those who want it. (and that has become less than 30% of my BIZ ventures)

But about Games.......

Personally, I would not buy any games that are Windows only...(but more than happy to buy Doom, UT Xplane, etc)

There is no technical reason that games can not be made to run on any platform.

That is primarily only for Exclusivity. To shore up a reason of usefulness in the market, or to prevent competition. Not to mention being Gamed from all sides, like the user & the developer with DirectX.

Interesting to note some/many directX games can run very well in Wine, Crossover, & Cedgra. (unless of course they have unnecessary hooks)

Although, that can be problematic for the casual user, who just wants to play the popular, heavily advertised games.

It is not like Other Systems do not have Games.
Just that those that are heavily marketed & sold are DirectX or for Consoles. (which other than Xbox are also not DirectX)

Yes there are some commercial & many free Games available if one bothers to look.

Most Games are really Targeted Simulations.
From simple like Sol, Blackjack etc, to major Number Crunching, like Atmospheric, Genome, Chemical & Celestial etc, etc.

How many Windows supercomputer clusters are there?

Anyway most of the gamers (or is it gammers?) I know & cater to, are enthusiast or systems people. and do not have such a myopic scope.......

That was Zen this is Tao.

Who knows what the future will bring, there are some/many F/LOSS Development engines for Games & GameSpace. Not unlike, Personal Computers, the WEB, Yahoo, Google, MySpace & YouTube etc...... If all you are looking for is a current or future Commercial Market Trend......
