Probably why they need the new discounts
If sales are so good, why are they constantly rolling out new dicounts?

Admits most users don't need the advanced features:

He likens it to car buyers who buy more horsepower than they need. "How many people buy the V8 instead of the V6?" Walker said. Or how many go with the optional towing package, "even though they have nothing to tow?"

If the 20 million are world wide numbers and include Starter Edition and reaches back in time to count Express Upgrades from the holidays, then those are some pretty feeble numbers.

{b]Vista comes in six flavors--Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate, as well as a Starter Edition only sold on new PCs in emerging markets.

This release stinks like yesterday's fish paper. I'm skeptical of their numbers and even more skeptical of the conclusions if they're accurate. Do their numbers include pre-sales and OEM?

XP released in Oct. 2001, right? How many more PC's in the world now than in '01? So, as a relative percentage of PC's in the world, how do sales compare? My guess would be sucky.
