IBM actually runs the IT facilities for many of the top global companies. If only its own customer base converts, this is a big step in terms of market leadership.

Actually, this is an enormous value proposition. We're talking $24/year per end user. If we eliminate only one stop per workstation per year, we have far more than recovered the investment, license fees aside. Administering the desktop is a major portion of the IT budget, and if we can get this cost under control, we've made great advance.
