Ballmer is looking to get out
In Seattle, Ballmer is donating 10 million to social scientists at the University of Washington who will utilize WA state Department of Social and Health Services data to prepare reports that may one day change how children are protected from negligent parents, teachers and care givers. The donations are in his wife's name but there likely is an exit strategy going on.

Ballmer has to unlearn a whole lot in order to remain President at Microsoft. This transparency thing is not an easy pill to take. Its the pink pill that drops you out of the Harvard and Ivy league matrix of back room and side deals, of secrecy, and monopoly building. There is a reason Gates doesn't allow his children more than an hour of Internet per day. The Robber Barrons, just are not portrayed well there.

For example. Most in the state think Ballmer and Gates Democratic. The reality is they were strong Bush supporters. The waining Bush administration also has Microsoft executives identified as the ones responsible for Abramoff and for the appearance of impropriety regarding Fed AGs who may have been a bit to aggressive at promoting Microsoft technology. Neukom's "Microsofting" of the American Bar Association means the ABA can not be viewed on as anything other than an organization that enables criminal behavior.

I think the whole thing stinky for Ballmer. He has to be ready to hang up the spurs, get off the dead horse, and let some one else take Microsoft to greatness again.

May he leave quickly.
