Creating a model for a business plan

Try this situation.
Take a person off the street who actively detests computers because they're complicated and vaguely dangerous. The danger is they might malfunction and require new information and an effort to fix the problem.
Next, give that person access to a computer with software. No one who knows how to use the software can be involved, so imagine this happens with your test subject isolated.

The point of the test is to have your test subject turn into a computer user. No one will correct mistakes, no one will train.

If we take 100 people given Windows and other Microsoft software and 100 people given Linux and other open source software, which situation will have a higher number of successes?
I'm betting on Microsoft.

That's the situation I'm using in developing a business plan for Microsoft that takes advantage of their strengths in going for sales in an emerging market.
You can imagine a different situation, though I suspect you'll assume a greater need for and familiarity with IT. But I wasn't thinking for open source software.
