Microsoft needs to worry about current markets first!
Ways to make Windows more palatable:

1) Stop loading it with DRM and spyware coding

2) Make it easy to choose what one wants to install

3) Stop loading it up with so much junk that it requires a PC that costs more than a car. Remember, Bill Gates is the guy who said 640K was plenty of RAM.

4) Trash the EULA that gives MS ownership of any IP one creates using their software.

5) Stop dropping support for "legacy" hardware and software. Not everyone has thrown away their DOS disks or wants to buy new video cards everytime a new program comes out.

6) Don't kid yourself that every upgrade of Office is worth $400!

7) FIX THE SECURITY HOLES!!!!!!!!!
