Apollo, while it's interesting, isn't really cross platform as it leaves out Apple machines that don't run on Intel, Unix and Linux.
Let's say it's a very limited Windows centric app that nods a little in the direction of OS X and nothing else.
Otherwise, I'm afraid that far from being informative this article reads like an advertisment that isn't noted as one. What useful information I got was from Adobe's own web site not here.
And the problem with Java remains that in comparison with AJAX it's very heavyweight and slow in comparison with Flash, for example.
I'll wait for a truly cross platform version of Apollo and probably get very old in the process.
