From Novells' perspective this makes a great deal of sense. Historically, they've always had the ability to produce technically sound solutions, yet suffering from an inability to market themselves out of the 'box'. MS, by contrast, have gained credibility in the server market through inheriting server seats through their desktop presence.

I'm not here to rant about MS tho... as much as we're led to believe, this is not a TCO or practicality usability-type issue. I'd be VERY surprised if Novell, having had their fingers burnt in the past on the desktop front, if they start selling SuSE per se. Their meat and drink is in the NOS products they provide. They've just captured a significant audience in Europe and potentially the US on the desktop front by putting their marker out with a big Linux distro... their money still lies in products such as e-Directory, ZENWorks and DirXML.

Cheers,
Mylo
