This could have waited.
In the article, there weren't any details given. Atleast none that would be useful to hardware manufacturors. Plus, I bet those guys know the details they need to and knew them well in advance of this article (remember, Longhorn was already supposed to be here, but was delayed).

Currently, the best general video card is 256MB. The lowest one I got w/ my Dell last week is an integrated 64MB! By the time Longhorn comes out, graphic card prices will be much lower (currently, 64MB ~ $50). Also, my old 350MHz Gateway has 4X AGP. Now I believe its around 8X. The way I see it, the graphics end is well taken care. I bet DirectX is also a non-issue.

The only piece of info this article gives you is that Longhorn will have an advanced form of theming. What it fails to mention is that current graphics hardware is more than enought to handle it. Nothing but a feature article. Information like that is useless years in advance of the product. We won't know what it will look like by the time it comes out.

My problem is that MS and the media always seem to overhype all their products. When the product actually comes out, it doesn't meet expectations. Now it's worse as the overhype is years ahead of its product.
