You finally made me realise why I didn't like the XP UI - it
doesn't actually make anything better or easier, just
different.

I found changing to the OS X UI quite painful, but once I
worked it out, I loved it. It looks darn good, it
deserves to work well too. I think Apple could learn a little
from Windows though - the "show as thumbnails" for a
folder of images is a great touch (maybe Apple will add it to
10.4). But the Apple "recent items" is much better than
Window's "Documents" on the start menu.

As for the 3d stuff and translucency - as you say, looks
good but adds zero functionality.
