But the problem for MS is that by the time Longhorn comes out, you will be able to buy a Linux PC loaded with OpenOffice for $100. A computer that will run Longhorn will be $800, and with OfficeLH over $1,000. Sure, there will be people willing to shell out over a grand, but most will opt for $100. So Microsoft is desperate to keep hardware prices up.
