It will be interesting when OSS starts to show up in HW
the trend over time is for HW to implement what was previously done in SW as the solution hardens. Initially, things are done in SW because of the flexibility, as they become proven solutions its often cheeper to move the functionality into HW ... what happens with the OSS model when this happens?

Seems like the OSS licenses are writtne with SW in mind, nobody is seriously going to invest in building HW implementations of SW only to have to disclose the result before it has paid back the R&D and generated a tidy profit!
