Yep
Do people buy general purpose computers for games? Isn't that what Playstation and its competitors are about?

Yes they do. Many people buy computers just so they can play game _x or game_y when it gets released and get proper frame rates. I'm a Gamer and admittedly my home computer purchasing decisions are primarily influenced by games.

On the other hand, my wife uses my old Athlon 750 which I ditched two years ago, and it suits her just fine. I'm kinda glad she's not into games. It would be expensive. happy
