OK, let's reset the numbers...
How many of the hundreds of thousands of windows applications, NBMers love to toss that number about with their millions of systems, will MicroSoft write for the 64-bit systems?

"Gates used a good part of a speech to hardware makers Tuesday to try to convince them that the time is now to start writing 64-bit drivers for their software."
....Pleeeeze write stuff for our new OS!

"Applications written to take advantage of 64-bit computing won't work in Windows unless the drivers are also 64-bit"
....Otherwise our office suite won't work until you do!

"For its part, Microsoft has been slower than it originally planned in delivering a version of Windows XP that runs on 64-bit x86 processors."
....Pretty soon we're gonna release something for you to work with!

"Microsoft reiterated Tuesday that such a version will ship by the end of this year and noted that it supports nearly all the features of the 32-bit OS"
....But it's crippled! NEARLY ALL?

This should be good...BTW, which compiler do you suppose works?
