They just let nature do it's thing in a lab.

Fiddling with life is not an invention. Taking a tree and a rock and making a hammer is an invention. Speeding up the process of nature that already exists and selecting the results you fancy is not an invention. In the end we are going to get burned big time by this behavior. I figure extinction level burning.
