Security Patches...
aren't upgrades in the first place. They are patches that you don't have to pay for.

Besides, if you have a 98 box that's patched up and an XP box that's patched up, guess which one is gonna be more secure... or at least make it easier for you to secure. XP by far... simply because of the code base it's built upon. When it comes to M$ Windows, you can't compare 98 to XP. XP is just plain far and away superior.
