And OSX runs just fine on todays hardware...
even lowly 500MHz/512MB machines (vs 4-6 GHz suggested minimum Longhorn system, highest-end video and min. 1 GB RAM requirements).

(As long as you've got at least 512MB RAM, OSX is fully functional and very usable.)

As you stated... OSX should be advanced even more and that much further ahead by the time Longhorn arrives in any usable form.
