My mother is in her mid-60s and still hasn't bought her first DVD player. I wanted to send her a CD-R of my daughter's pictures to slideshow on the TV, so I asked her what model she had and that's how I found out. (Guess what is in the mail for Mother's Day? It's this Sunday, in case you forgot).

Now, my mother is not the only one in the world without a DVD player. You still have people out there without answering machines, using rotary phones, antennas on the roof or rabbit ears on the TV. Do you really expect that they are all going to march like lemmings down to the nearest electronics superstore and demand this?

I guess Bill Gates is waiting for a generation or two to die off before he gets his payoff. By that time, all the security issues and bugs will be worked out happy (I couldn't type that with a straight face-sorry!)
