Just don't make it look like a PC
That's the key. If it's just a another black box sitting next the TV along with the reciever, VCR, and DVD then it will work great. To tap that 50% make sure it's not a PC at all in appearance unless you going looking for those familiar PC parts.

Those with PCs don't want em or anything they percieve to be a PC. They want a remote with a few buttons that does what they want. If Microsoft can deliver this then they will make it, if they don't they they just follow Linux and MYTH TV.
