Some Corrections

I was waiting when Lionux community (and perhaps Apple too) releases SPX/IPX finally.

two things wrong with that comment:

1) I've been using Caldera Linux with an IPX stack for over three years, to connect it to a NetWare 4.x environment. So, the IPX/SPX connectivity is already there.

2) With NetWare being a Pure IP protocol-based NOS since NetWare 5.0, the idea of needing IPX/SPX is akin to Windows needing DOS to load on top of.

and of course, with Native File Access in NetWare 6.0, you don't even need workstation clients as they will see the NetWare server as a native host to their own networking protocols, works for Windows, UNIX, Linux and Mac.

While IPX is fast, Keylabs benchmarks proved NetWare running IP outperformed Windows using IP as well. However, IPX is not natively routable without a dedicated router to assist it. Personally, I'll be glad when I can dump my two remaining NetWare 4.2 boxes and go pure IP with NetWare 5.1, 6.0 and 6.5 and get rid of all the SAP traffic!
