good news for everyone
This is very good news for all of us. More big companies putting money behind Linux and other alternatives to MS will increase its acceptance and overall competition in the industry. The more viable choices there are for the consumer and the better they all inter-operate, the better we will all be.

This is even good for MS, in a kind of "that which does not kill me makes me stronger" way. The more they face real competition, the more they will have to improve their products in order to keep selling them. And that, ultimately, is good for all of us, too.
