Maybe some CIOs don't like it because they want to justify their existence.
But, the people at Google are just as trustworthy as the people you can hire, and, this is one thing you can outsource and quite wasting your time administering.

That said, Google still needs to fix the off-line problem, and add more applications and more features to the existing apps. I am sure they are working fast and furious on that.

Google is also working fast and furious on updates for Firefox to enable better rich interactive web applications that work on all platforms. There will also be Firefox updates to solve the off-line problem.
