CIOs want to see more of Google Apps

I'll never support it on my infrastructure: I am by no means a fan of Microsoft software, but the idea of using a hosted solution for office productivity applications is just not good business. Open Office or Word Perfect are suitable alternatives to MS, with the main component being that the software is installed on the workstation and the data resides on my network. Now if google were to come out with say an appliance or a server based install where I am running the google apps off of a device in my datacenter which could be accessed through my VPN or other encrypted access that would be a start, but would still need the ability to work offline or it would never work for the majority of my staff who travel frequently.
