Agreed
I was a big fan of Windows 2000. When XP came out, I was quite disappointed with it, and stuck with Win2k. Gaming consoles have caught up to PCs, and people would rather sit in front of a TV playing video games with their friends. Computers are back to being used for productivity, email, and surfing the web, which is a lot safer to do on a Linux machine.

I prefer software that encourages you to try it out and share it if you like it, not stuff that you have to buy before you're allowed to try it, and certainly not software that forbids you from having more than one copy of it and considers you a thief otherwise. I also prefer ease of use, with the option to customize everything I want to. That's why I've been running Ubuntu Linux at home. It just works.

As for people saying it's so difficult to set up, it really isn't. It automatically discovered all of my hardware, and you can have it automatically partition and format your drives.

The only "advanced" thing I did during installation was told it to mount my second hard drive as type "ext2" on /home, which puts all my user data onto the other drive (Vista's way to do that is to install, then go through some menus and manually move everything to the other drive).
