And missed Lindows
If you've ever looked at Lindows it too is very user friendly and designed for the home user.

Personally I say use what you're comfortable with at home for the tasks that you need to do.

If you can do everything you want in Windows and are comfortable with that while still staying with in your budget then I suggest you go with Windows.

Now if I were to buy a computer for the kids I'd serriously suggest Lindows. It's life saver on the pocket book with all the games in the click and run warehouse. It also exposes them to Linux at home as chances are they will get good Windows and MAC exposure at school.

Another time to suggest Linux for the home user is when a user asks about how they can do a task that they can't see to do on Windows. This isn't a common thing but it show the user is ready to try something new.

For MAC I'd suggest that to a user who has a little extra money and want something for digital pictures. MS is good for digicam but MAC is just that much better and easier.
