If you make life easy for the kernel developers...
...you get to have your drivers included in the kernel distribution. Amazing how that works!

Note that Linus et al are not planning to force anyone to use KVM or to make it difficult to use competing technologies (including proprietary ones). Given the way Linux kernels are configured, I'm quite certain that KVM support is readily disabled for those who don't want it.
