All the basically non-technical audience will convert to whatever new model is put in place as they always have done so.

The non technical audience has never changed just because the industry wanted it to. They change when they see value in changing. For example the CD was better quality, lasted longer and had quicker access compared to the cassette. What does DRM offer? Nothing but restriction and higher prices. Consumers will just not buy it especially in this day and age where there is so much competing for your entertainment dollars.

On top of it all DRM is a waste of time and effort. It will be bypassed and the song available in non DRM format for download somewhere.
