It's pretty normal
from what I've seen, you've got to remember most Americans don't have passports, and have never been outside the US, therefore they seem to regard the rest of the World as "The enemy".

I find it particularly puzzling that Americans give the French and other Europeans such a hard time, as without the French, Dutch and Spanish armed forces aiding Washington it's doubtful the Revolutionary War would have ended the way it did (10,000 French troops and the French Navy preventing resupply at Yorktown?), and the Statue of Liberty?, wonder who gave them that?

Apologies to the intelligent Americans who have travelled and appreciate other cultures, but you're badly outnumbered by the "greatest little country in the world" morons.
