Oh, Loverock, get your arguments right!
As evidenced by your own quotation of scomanjim's post, he never said Linux has been around longer than Microsoft. He stated, correctly, that UNIX had been around longer (although he was a little long in his 'two decades' assertion), and stated, correctly, again, that Linux is based on UNIX code.

And yes, Linux is faster and more robust. Anybody who has used both Windows and Linux, to any degree, will back those statements. I can't personally attest to it being safer - I haven't tested it in that way myself, but from everything I've read, it seems to be true. (...and it's definitely not too hard to believe.)

If you're going to argue someone else's statement, it's best, before you start, to make sure you fully understand the statement they made. Just a suggestion...
