Any type of ballot can be bogus.
I'm not particularly pleased with the electronic voting either.

But. . . the deal is that there is the possibility of fraud no matter what you do.

How about the guy caught with over 400 ballots and a voting machine in the trunk of his car. Where was it? Which Florida county had the most "Chads"? Maybe he got in too much of a hurry and was trying to punch two or three cards at a time hmmn???? What was his party affiliation? Did he go to jail????? What do you think?

How about all of the military votes which didn't have a postmark because they were flown in by helocopter from Eglin Air Force Base? Why didn't the military personnel get their absentee ballots in time for them to be sent by mail for the election?

There was a lot of crap going on in that election, and it didn't just happen in Florida.

It was gross incompetence or outright duplicity, either way the American people were put through a circus. It was unnecessary.

It is not the "special interests" that are a problem. It is the political hacks willing to do anything in order to get appointed to some "plum" job in government. Party affiliation doesn't apply. "Political Operatives" are out of control, and the politicians who use them are just as dirty.

The people of which I am speaking are extremists, they actually perceive the opposing party as "evil". They exist in both parties. They aren't just a little strange. They are really kind of scary when you meet them. For them it is some kind of holy war.

Personally, I admit I feared Gore.

The President isn't omnipotent, it is his cabinet and advisors which are the crux of the matter. They are what run the details day-by-day along with some of the Senate and House special committees.

All of these special committees are bi-partisan. They are supposed to be composed of senior members of congress who are capable of setting aside all other things, so they may focus on the needs of the citizens and the health of the republic. Look at their behavior. It doesn't quite match the design does it?

These committees set the budget, digest foreign and domestic issues and policies, submit advisories and opinion, to the cabinet and white house staffers.

The staffers and Cabinet submit the digests to the president, along with the digests from the security (and other) agencies.

The president makes decisions based on the information submitted to him in these digests. He has to trust that each level of the process is being done with due dilligence.

Had I witnessed or even read about Gore reviewing policies and staff, and actively pursuing top notch people for his cabinet I would not have feared him.

Clinton was badly advised, and many of his staff were not really suited for their positions. They were over worked, didn't know how to delegate, or what to delegate. As a result, those staffers were insecure enough to be manipulated by others who simply should not have had access to the White House. This was the heart of the media circus around the later Clinton years in the White House.

It also led to Political Operatives gaining more power and prestige. Think about the character assassination of different political figures of both parties during the last 18 years.

I cannot be absolutely sure that my personal feeling towards Clinton is not at least partly due to social engineering.

Can you be absolutely sure of your feelings about the last election, or about President Bush?
