Ever heard of a Secret Ballot
The constitution grants us the priviledge of a secret ballot in this country. Recording the votes in the manner you suggest would enable someone to go back and figure out exactly who each voter chose.

We could easily have an Iraqi style 100% vote for the dictator du jour.

Printing each ballot, as you suggest, is a very, very bad idea.
