Novell offers faster virtualized Windows
Yeah, "just run it natively on the hardware". So we have 9 differnt application servers and 10 different web servers servers and 18 different database servers and 4 different middleware servers and 11 different file/print servers and etc, etc, etc.

Or how about we buy 6 multicore, multiprocessor servers, running SLES10 and run multiple Windows VMs on each. It should cost less for the hardware (maybe) and should definitely take up less space and hopefully less power and cooling. We also get the ability to re-allocate resources with just a reboot (if we even need to do that). Hook this up to a low end SAN or high end NAS and we have real space, cooling and power savings. And the flexibility has been increased also. This doesn't even touch on cabling and on new server builds and management.

Have you been completely out-to-lunch regarding the benefits of virtualization?!??! Whether it's Xen or VMWare or MS Virtual Server or Parallels, the benefits are real and are available today. It's not majic and takes some planning and real understanding of the technology, but c'mon!! Even you can't ignore the opportunities.

I know you're a Windows guy, but please find something more intelligent as a reply to this story. Huh? You're making the other Windows folks look bad here.

Oh, and by the way, I'm an MCSE (NT/2000/2003). So no "you Linux guys are all the same" cr*p, huh?
